About PYP

Pitch Your Peers, Inc. is a 501(c)(3), grant-giving charitable organization. Founded in Greenwich, Connecticut in 2016, PYP now has chapters in Chicago, the Hamptons, Seattle and its newest chapter in Westchester, NY.

The mission of PYP is to engage women in local philanthropy and to collectively fund grants to charitable initiatives that serve Westchester County.

The goal of PYP is to identify unmet needs in the community by providing a platform whereby each year three members (or groups of members) are empowered to “pitch” to the full PYP Westchester membership about why their selected non-profit should receive a grant award. By pitching, member’s get the word out about their passion projects with more than a soundbite, to a captive, discerning audience. The whole membership votes and three impactful grants are awarded to deserving non-profits in Westchester County.

Why Join PYP Westchester

A PYP Westchester membership offers an opportunity to be part of a community of local women that prioritizes meaningful engagement and collaboration.

As a PYP member you would join a group of women who educate one another on their communities unique needs, while bringing greater awareness to the non-profits who are striving to address those needs. Members become more informed about their philanthropic choices, available volunteer opportunities and meet like-minded women who share their interests.

How It Works

For those interested in joining the inaugural PYP Westchester organization, we invite you to attend one of our interest meetings scheduled for Monday, November 4th, 2024 and Tuesday, November 19th, 2024. Committed members would be asked to contribute their membership dues in early January, 2025. PYP grants are fully funded by our 100% tax-deductible membership dues of $1250, collected once annually.

These dues are pooled and separated into no more than three grants per year. All donations received (including corporate matches) will be distributed 60% / 30% / 10% to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively. The size of our annual grant pool ranges, depending on how much money our members donate and how much we can raise through corporate matching and other additional sources, such as donations from members’ family foundations.

Member(s) who wish to pitch a non-profit to be considered to receive a grant award are called, “Grant Champions.” Up to four members can pitch one organization. Members fill out an application and the non-profit will be properly vetted. As a PYP member you can pitch a non-profit or be pitched to, that’s your choice.

Notably, there is only ONE required date for PYP members to attend annually and that is “Pitch Night!”, currently slated for March 25th, 2025. Members will gather for three compelling presentations by the Grant Champions, and then cast their vote. Once the results are tallied, the featured non-profit organizations are awarded their PYP grant donation! ALL non-profits who are pitched will receive a grant!

The major difference between PYP and other grant funding organizations is that members get the chance to pitch to fellow members, bringing awareness to projects that speak to their passions. It’s like Shark Tank, for charity. Bring your A-game, and members could be awarding a charity that they deeply believe in with a meaningful, and impactful donation.
